QUARTER 4
Reflection of the year
A. Goal
Referring to your goal this academic year, have you succeeded in achieving the goals? Give the reasons for your answer
My goal every year and every quarter is the same, which is to keep on doing better and better. Especially this year, the second year since I am an MYP student, I hoped that I could get fewer detentions, less than I have got in Grade 7 and also keep doing better to improve my grades. I also hope that I can have a lot of fun with my friends, and that will always be my wish. Overall, I can say that this year is a happy year. I got to be happy with my friends, and I had a lot of fun. For detentions, I guess I got a lot better at getting less of these except for quarter 2 because I got a behavior contract. I say i didn’t try. I think I was too lazy to get better and I don’t care. In the next quarters, I believed that I don’t want to disappoint my family so I try harder to get no detentions. I think I got a little better since quarter 2. In grades, though, I can’t say everything is going so well as I expected. Some of the grades went down while some went up too. Especially the subjects Humanities and Bahasa Indonesia, I don’t get good grades. I should try harder at these two subjects, especially because I had failed in these subjects.
B. Subject
1. In what subject that you achieve the best for this academic year? Give an explanation and proof for the reason.
I believe that Math is my favorite subject and I did very well on math. I think I don’t have any problems with the lessons and I actually like math. In this year, I got good grades for math. Especially for criterion A that I think is the most important, knowledge and understanding, I got very satisfying grades. I should say that I did very well on the semester test lately because I got a really good grade, a 7 out of 8. I am really proud of myself for getting this while I was really not confident when doing this. I was also happy at most of math class.
2. In what subject that you struggle the most for this academic year? Give an explanation for the reason! How will you do it differently/improve it?
As I have said before, I failed two subjects. Those are Humanities and Bahasa Indonesia. I failed twice in humanities class, and I think I really did not try because I don’t like this class. I really liked it when it was all about remembering the countries in each continent, but surely I am not good at projects. I am not a discipline student, and even though I want to change myself it is hard. I failed humanities because I didn’t submit my big project and that really did have a big effect on my grades. In Bahasa Indonesia, I failed once, and this is the first time I failed Bahasa Indonesia. I was discouraged and was afraid but the next quarter I gained back my confidence in Bahasa Indonesia since I got a good grade for my unfinished writing criteria in a test. Next time I should try harder. The most important thing for me is to not procrastinate because procrastinating made me not do my project. I should actually do on it before the night it is due. It is for humanities. For Bahasa Indonesia, I believe that I should practice my formal speaking more because I am really abad at any oral communication criteria – both English and Bahasa Indonesia. I also need to sharpen my analysis skills in Visual interpretation and Reading Comprehension, and also read more newspaper can help me increase grades in writing criteria.
C. Approaches to Learning (1) Organization, 2) Collaboration, 3) Communication, 4) Reflection, 5) Information Literacy, 6) Transfer and 7) Thinking) see attached document for list of Approaches to Learning or ATL
1. Which ATL are you confident with? In which subject hand how do you learn those skills? How will you continue to master the skills?
I think the ATL I am most confident with is Reflection. Because I don’t think I am good at anything else, reflection is the thing I am most confident with from the list. I am able to reflect quite well and I know my mistakes. This kind of ATL could be learned at most lessons. For me, the most is Technology because there is Criterion E. Evaluate. To continue master this skill, I will learn from my mistakes and know myself better so I can reflect on myself better.
2. Which ATL are you less confident with? How will you develop the skills? What help do you need from school?
The ATL that I am least confident with is Communication. I think many people misunderstand things and me and my oral communication is really bad. I am too nervous to speak out loud in presentations, but in real life I could scream at random times in Visual Arts class (most often). I think I will develop the skills more by trying to not be nervous. In some ways I could talk comfortably to friends, so I think having more friends the better I will talk in front of the class because I will be more comfortable. I can actually talk to a lot of people, but I think I am also not confident of myself so I should be more confident. If I am confident, naturally my speaking will be louder and clearer so everyone can hear me better.
